Guinness Storehouse

You can’t visit Dublin without sampling a pint of Guinness! Based in Dublin 8, the Guinness Storehouse is an iconic 7-floor attraction built on the site of St. James’ Gate Brewery. The site was founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness.

What to Expect

The Guinness Storehouse is a self-guided experience with a ticket price of €25. Explore each floor and learn the history of this iconic stout, starting with its four ingredients: water, barley, hops and yeast. You can even see a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur himself! Other floors include showstopping displays of Guinness advertising and ‘The Perfect Pint’ bar, where you can pour your own pint and even put a selfie on the head of your Guinness.

As well as getting a photo outside the Instagrammable brewery gates, the Gravity bar on the top floor of the Storehouse is another must-see. A free pint of Guinness is included with admission, as well as the panoramic views of Dublin from 144 feet

Who’s it For?

The Guinness Storehouse is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ireland, with 1.7 million people passing through its doors in 2019. As it is a self-guided experience, it suits individual travelers, couples and larger groups. There are no age restrictions upon entry (children under 6 go free, child tickets range from €5 to €16). However, the legal drinking age in the Republic of Ireland is 18 years and Guinness will not be served to those under that age on the premises. Audioguides are available to rent for €2 in various languages and specific guided tours are available in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Mandarin, as well as a visual guide in international sign language

How Long Do You Need to Experience the Guinness Storehouse?

We recommend spending an entire morning or afternoon for the Guinness Storehouse. After all, there are 7 entire floors to explore! If you are in a hurry, you can comfortably manage the experience in 90 minutes – but that doesn’t leave you much time in the Gravity Bar or an opportunity to avail of any of the extras, such as getting a ‘stoutie’ (your selfie on a pint of Guinness) or engraving your very own pint glass.
